The
Designer Jewellers Group was founded in 1975 as a co-operative which promotes the work of its members.
Individuality of design and professional craftsmanship are its hallmarks,
bringing together an exciting diversity of styles in contemporary
jewellery. All members are designer makers, working in precious metals, gemstones, carved
hardwoods, Perspex, polypropylene and textiles, and using a vast array
of techniques. They are often commissioned
to make bespoke items or pieces for special projects.
They exhibit independently in fairs, galleries and museums throughout
the United Kingdom as well as abroad, and have made important contributions
in the publishing and teaching worlds.
Today its Thirty one members come together
for exhibition purposes, and to offer new
designers a platform for launching their work in a professional
environment.
